The Department of Energy’s (DOE) 50001 Ready Program was created and launched in 2017 as a resource to help program participants implement and maintain an energy management system according the global standard to achieve continuous energy improvement, aligning with ISO 50001.
The 50001 Ready program offers a no-cost way to receive recognition for establishing a business practice around energy. Typically, facilities with annual utility costs of $88,000 and higher have seen up to a 5% savings when participating in this program in other regions. SPEER is offering this Pilot Program to a select number of facilities in Central Texas as a way to introduce the 50001 Ready Program, receive feedback on the tools, and support early adopters. There will be three 6 hour workshops between May 2019 – January 2020. Our class checklist will provide you with what you can expect from each of these workshops. Using DOE’s 50001 Ready, schools and facilities will get recognition for putting in place a management plan that will help save money and increase your facility’s sustainability.
