John Roberts

John Roberts is the chief technology officer (CTO) of Cree, Inc., where he leads advanced technology development for LEDs and LED lighting systems with a focus on commercial IoT systems.  In a career spanning 35-years of innovation, John held a wide variety of leadership, engineering and technology development roles within the automotive, military aerospace and LED industries prior to joining Cree.  John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1983 and served as a helicopter pilot until he left active duty as a Captain in 1989.  John is married with 3 grown children and enjoys running, swimming, backpacking and cooking in his spare time.
