SPEER’s Energy Efficiency Summit Advanced Registration to End this Weekend

The Summit is scheduled to begin at 9:30am on Monday morning at the Omni Southpark in Austin, Texas. Advance Registration will end this weekend, so register now and get the advance registration prices. There will be registration available at the door, but prices will increase to $350 for Members and $400 for Non-Members.

The Summit will begin on Monday at 9:300am with the opening keynote by Ed Mazria, Founder and CEO of Architecture 2030, beginning at 10:00am. Mr. Mazria is an international leader on efforts to make buildings dramatically more energy and water efficient, leading the movement to establish 2030 districts in cities with goals to reach carbon neutrality by 2030. These districts have been established so far in Los Angeles, Seattle, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.

Pat Wood, former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and former Chair of the PUC of Texas, will lead off the second day of SPEER’s Energy Efficiency Summit.  Wood is perhaps best know here for leading a multiyear collaborative stakeholder process that lead to the complete restructuring of the Texas electric utility market.  Now a board member or advisor to a range of energy companies, Wood will address the potential of the efficiency and distributed generation industry to remake itself as well, and share his experience with collaborative initiatives such as SPEER.

Most of the first day (February 25) will be devoted to working groups focused on identifying the best strategies and solutions to advance energy efficiency in three areas: new buildings, existing buildings, and resource adequacy.

Most of the second day (February 26) will be spent hearing the results from the three working groups.
