Most buildings can reduce their total energy use by 5-30% while fully maintaining or even improving comfort and function. And operations & maintenance best practices can save 5-20% annually on energy bills but buildings can only be operated efficiently if the building operator is properly trained. The BOC program is a training and certification program for maintenance and operations personnel and technicians that provides energy-saving operational strategies. BOC graduates make their buildings more comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly, thanks to skills they learn and behavioral changes they master throughout the course.
Our winter BOC course begins December 3rd, 2024, and concludes mid-March 2025. This course is taught live, via Zoom by our approved instructors. View the syllabus and save your spot!

The Energy Savings for the Building Operator Certification Program Report, completed by 17 independent third-party evaluators, shows that the average energy savings per participant is 100,500 kWh/annually, which equates to $10,500 in savings. BOC-certified operators also save 113,660 gallons of water per enrollee and .14 gallons per square foot. The program includes low-cost and no-cost ways to reduce energy costs. The cost is quickly offset by the energy savings from within the facilities which the participants serve.
BOC training provides building operators skill enhancement in energy efficient building operations, project planning, and improved decision making. These trained operators are able to immediately use their training-acquired knowledge to do more effective problem solving, make buildings more comfortable for their occupants and extend the longevity of building equipment. The national BOC credentials are widely recognized by employers as a program that identifies skilled and knowledgeable workers capable of improving energy and operational performance in the buildings they maintain.
