SUMMARY:Webinar: Blower Door Testing & Its Impact on HVAC Sizing
DESCRIPTION:Are you ensuring your HVAC systems are designed for maximum efficiency and code compliance? Proper airtightness is a critical factor in determining HVAC system performance\, energy consumption\, and overall indoor air quality. Blower door testing is a key diagnostic tool used to measure air leakage in buildings\, helping professionals design and verify energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings. \nJoin us for this in-depth webinar\, where we will break down the importance of blower door testing\, its role in HVAC system design\, and how it impacts code compliance and long-term building performance. \nThree Key Lessons Learned from the Field: \n1.    Right-sizing HVAC is crucial – Many homes and buildings suffer from oversized HVAC systems due to outdated assumptions about air leakage. A tighter home means lower heating and cooling loads\, leading to more efficient\, properly sized equipment. \n2.    Ventilation must be carefully designed – Airtight buildings require balanced mechanical ventilation systems (HRVs/ERVs) to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent moisture-related issues such as mold and condensation. \n3.    Small leaks can cause big problems – Even minor leaks around attic hatches\, recessed lighting\, and electrical penetrations can significantly impact energy efficiency and thermal comfort. Addressing these leaks can make a major difference in both blower door test results and HVAC performance. \n\nTweet

SUMMARY:Webinar - From the Field: Real-World Compliance and Enforcement Trends in the New IECC
DESCRIPTION:This session delivers a boots-on-the-ground perspective of how the 2021 and 2024 IECC are playing out in the field. We’ll explore what code officials\, energy inspectors\, and third-party verifiers are seeing during inspections—where compliance is working\, where it’s not\, and why. Expect practical insights on the most commonly missed requirements\, how builders are responding\, and strategies jurisdictions are using to improve consistency\, coordination\, and enforcement. Whether you’re enforcing the code or preparing for it\, this is the real talk you need. \nThree Lessons Learned: \n\nCommon Violations Stem from Documentation Gaps\, Not Just Install Mistakes: Builders often fail to submit HVAC designs\, duct leakage test results\, and ventilation documentation\, which makes enforcement difficult—even if the installation is adequate.\nThird-Party Coordination is Critical but Often Overlooked: Cities relying on third-party energy verifiers need clear communication and defined roles between verifiers\, inspectors\, and code officials to prevent missed steps in the field.\nTraining and Field Resources Make or Break Compliance: Jurisdictions that invested in inspector training\, updated checklists\, and clear plan review protocols saw far better compliance and fewer failures during final inspections.\n\n  \n\nTweet
