SUMMARY:SPEER/CAPCOG Workshop - Save Energy\, Cut Costs: Funding & Technical Resources for Public Buildings and Community Spaces
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first workshop in the Energy and Water Conservation Summer Workshop Series. \nThis virtual workshop is designed for water districts\, park and recreation departments\, cities\, state agencies\, and other public entities interested in lowering utility costs\, improving building performance\, and learning about practical energy and water management resources available in Texas. This workshop is presented in partnership with the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG)\, the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO)\, and the South-central Partnership for Energy Efficiency as a Resource (SPEER). \nThe session will feature three approximately 20-minute presentations with time for questions and discussion. DESCRIPTION:This webinar highlights the Green Warriors 2024 Pilot\, a South Dallas initiative led by UTA’s SEAR Lab with community and city partners to address challenges in various communities. The pilot weatherized seven homes while training local residents through the City of Dallas Green Job Skills Program in building science and weatherization. The session will explore what these results mean for workforce development and the scaling of community-based weatherization programs in Dallas and beyond. \nObjectives: \n\nIdentify key weatherization measures used in the pilot and their impact on household energy performance.\nInterpret pilot findings\, including energy savings and payback potential.\nDiscuss how this dual-track model can inform scalable\, community-based strategies for workforce training and local policy.\n\n\nICC CEUs are provided for attendees.  \nSpeaker: Erick C.
