SPEER’s Energy Code Ambassadors initiative is a dynamic and dedicated group of passionate individuals that gather monthly to address concerns & challenges related to the adoption of updating energy codes in cities across Texas with the goal of promoting and improving energy-efficient practices in our built environment.
Comprised of architects, engineers, energy consultants, environmentalists, 3rd party verifiers, and policymakers, among others, these ambassadors actively engage with local authorities, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the successful adoption and integration of stronger building codes. They understand code compliance front to back.
SPEER’s Energy Code Ambassadors receive intensive training on current energy codes, including advanced topics like HVAC system design, insulation installation grading and much more. This enables them to provide resources, training, advice and real world solutions to local code officials, third party providers, builders and contractors with a simple call or email.
SPEER operates the largest Energy Code Ambassador Program in the country. The program is recognized by the International Code Council (ICC) and implemented in collaboration with the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) and the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP).
Ambassadors are trained on the latest energy codes and can provide related resources, training, advice and real world solutions for their local area contractors and code officials with a simple call or email. Ambassadors also have access to the SPEER network for more complex issues, questions or needs of their local industry participants.
At SPEER, our sole purpose is to help you and your organization move toward a more energy-efficient end-state. Our team supports a robust member network with training, peer support, and advocacy. Join us!
